Since September 2008 Jim Potts has been the Distance Learning Programme Manager at the UK Defence Academy. He has two roles; to run the Programme Office for the Military Knowledge e-learning courses (large scale, mandated, bespoke e-learning with high-stakes summative assessments) and to provide a Defence Academy strategic focus for e-learning policy and exploitation.
Prior to starting a second career as a Civil Servant in his current post, Jim had been in the Army for 28 years. Following his BSc in civil engineering he joined the Royal Engineers and subsequently specialised in the acquisition of military capability after completing a related MSc. In the acquisition field, interspersed with operational tours, he was responsible for elements of the specification and delivery of a wide range of Army capabilities; this included responsibility for the related elements of the training solutions. He also draws cartoons.
