Making sense of social media in workplace learning
Jane Hart, Social Media and Learning Consultant , Centre for Learning and Performance Technologies
When Twitter is on the front pages of the newspaper, you know social networking has arrived, but just because it's popular does that mean it'll work in your organisational learning? In this presentation Jane Hart argues that using social media tools needs more thought than just coupling some web 2.0 resources to teaching 1.0. Drawing on her experience with clients engaged in using social media for learning, Jane will demonstrate how to make a success of social learning, including:
- How a L&D department’s approach to “learning” needs to change
- Integrating social learning and collaborative working
- Why you might want to consider a social media/learning platform rather than stand-alone tools
- How to help employees “help themselves” to learn
- How to support employees become effective social learners
